The bout began with a far faster start from Loma than the one he made against Teofimo Lopez. However, he also faced early adversity as he suffered a cut from a head clash which left blood running into his eye. Thanks to good work from the cutman in his corner though, this did not prove to be a big issue as he built a lead in the first half of the fight.
Lomachenko was simply too accurate for Nakatani, regardless of the 6ft fighter’s giant significant advantage.
In round five, Loma floored him for the first time in the contest. Despite Nakatani’s regular holding, a blistering combination from the smaller man on the inside saw him fall to the canvas.
